Hips & Hamstrings Heated-Power Flow

This class is taught by:

Liz Kelly

An Atlanta native, Liz has yet to stray far from home. After graduating from Emory University in 2013, she completed her 200-hour Training at Red Hot Yoga. Liz has a laid-back energy outside of class, but is known for holding students accountable in finding their strongest, deepest edge while at the studio. Her Power Flow classes are filled with challenging transitions and stamina building moments inspired by years as a competitive swimmer. She believes there is nothing better than hanging out in utkatasana.  Come rock out to some old school 90s R&B Friday nights for her Hip Hop Power Flow!

"Take all the healing and peaceful energy with you out into the world."

Caitlin Griffey was born and raised in Baltimore, MD where she began dancing at the age of 7 and was accepted into Baltimore School for the Arts as a ballet major. She deferred college for a year to pursue her ballet career and moved to Charleston, SC where she danced professionally with Charleston Ballet Theater. The following year she attended the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under scholarship and moved to Bloomington, Indiana. Over the course of 4 years at IU, Caitlin had the privilege of working closely with esteemed dancers and choreographers such as Violette Verdy, John Clifford, Julie Kent, and Suzanne Pilare. After graduation she moved back to Baltimore for a year and danced and taught for the Baltimore Ballet where she broke her foot and experienced her first major injury. She went through a lot of physical therapy and made the decision to put ballet to the side and pursue life as a "normal" human being. She decided to move to Atlanta, GA in 2009 to be closer to her older sister and began taking classes to apply for grad school for physical therapy. As life and work got in the way she hated her desk job for 4 years and the only love she found was through her yoga practice where she began her cerfication at red hot yoga in 2014 and the rest is history. Reflecting back on her dancing days, she realized why it was so much apart of her being, because that was where she truely felt she could escape the troubles of her life and really come alive was through movement. She loved everything about it, the precision to detail, the technique and it was the only place for her where things made sense where she could let go of all the chatter and connect with her being. This kind of moving meditation and the transition into life as a yoga instructor could not have been a more natural and obvious movement of her life. She has been on staff at Thunderbolt Power Yoga since its opening and continues to grow and learn along with her students and is excited to continue on to her 500hr training this year. In her spare time, Caitlin enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her cats.

“Thank you so much for being a part of our amazing community of yogis!”

I’m a Georgia native who spent most of her life pursuing a corporate career. Growing up in Gwinnett, I imagined my future self as a busy traveling business person so that’s what I became after an undergrad at UGA and a few years later a master’s degree at Georgia Tech (for the record… when it comes to sports… go Dawgs!). My corporate years have been focused on leadership of tech sales and digital marketing teams for cloud software startups and now Sage, a large British software company.

My career and my family defined me until around 2012 when I began to transform my occasional yoga practice into a journey of deep inquiry, asana, community and lots of sweat! I began to study the deeper and centuries old reason for stepping on to our mats and why we hold our poses, why we focus on deep breath in and out. What followed was personal growth fueled by inner tapas that burned away layers of distortion to reveal innate awareness and connection that fully changed my life off the mat.

When Thunderbolt Power Yoga opened in Buckhead and eventually had the first teacher training early 2015 I took the teaching plunge! I never saw myself as a yoga teacher, that seemed like too lofty of a goal for the person I thought I was. But through our close and extended teaching community I opened up and developed a love for the journey of teaching that transformed me for good. My heart is now consistently full with gratitude for our community and the peacefulness that this journey has brought to my life.

When I’m not practicing yoga or working at an office, you can find me out with Winston, my 13 year old terrier mix, or spending time with friends and family around the city I love. Or if I’m lucky I could be boarding a plane, yoga mat in hand, to someplace I’ve never been as world travel is my passion!

"Be Raw"

I am a Canadian who moved to Atlanta as a child and had always know the green lawns of our Johns Creek suburbs to be my home. I moved to Buckhead two years ago, and that is where yoga entered my life. At first my only drive was the asana, the practice of improving poses and discovering the many exciting arm balances I could delicately weave into my practice. My cheerleading past sparked, and I was able to reignite the old flame of constantly working to a new move.
Although I had been consistently practicing yoga, my spiritual journey was not even close to starting. Not yet opening my heart, I often tuned out the readings and did not accept the intentions or messages that were being offered. Not until I struggled with emotional turmoil was I even ready to take on a deeper level of practice. One day in class, I heard about teacher training and my mom encouraged me to take on the opportunity, so she would know where I was on the weekends. I went into the training apprehensively and not fully aware of what was lying ahead. During our first week, we explored the emotional levels I did not expect. Eventually, I timidly embraced the spiritual remedies yoga granted and happily discovered that yoga was waiting for me with open arms. Over the training period, I overcame many inner demons and found the true solace in my once ignored readings and intentions.
My mat has now transformed into a physical and emotional outlet for me. Teaching is a true passion of mine, and I look forward to planning out a message for my classes and setting up a jamming playlist usually containing at least one Drake song. In this hour I teach, I feel I can share and express what I discover through my constant spiritual journey.
Yoga is not my only outlet. I also enjoy art which has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I explore multiple mediums, but the two closest to my heart are painting and film photography. I have discovered that self expression can be present in any form, and I am thrilled to embrace new aspects of life with the open heart yoga has given me.

"Smile, and show up for life! 😃"

Stacey received her 200 RYT through Carly Grace Power Yoga RYS, 2016.

Stacey Leebern is committed to growing and bettering the community, traveling, learning, and being a contribution to Thunderbolt Power Yoga through her personal journey.

Stacey is passionate about giving back, and shows her active contribution by supporting the arts, foster children, the ballet, and she is currently active in the Alzheimers Association, GCAPP, SCAD, and Zac and Shelly Brown's Camp Southern Ground.

Stacey has a love of travel, she loves to see history, nature, and explore the different cultures and sights that travel offers. Stacey loves traveling with her family and sharing the experiences with her children. Stacey now tries to experience yoga in different places, and enjoys diving into new communities to see what they have to offer. Stacey loves education and will continue to further her knowledge through reading, research, travel and taking classes - especially as it relates to her health, fitness and yoga practice.

Stacey has always had a strong interest in medicine. She learned that yoga can actually become your “medicine," when Dr. Letha Griffin and Dr. Rattandeep Singh, both prescribed to her that she make yoga a part of her everyday practice. Through this, Stacey learned the true importance of the practice of yoga, and has since began integrating her personal experience and healing in her teaching. Medicine- both Western and Eastern, have always fascinated Stacey, most recently leading her to Laughing Lotus Love Skool for a 50 hour Ayurveda Intensive.

Stacey says, "Yoga has been life changing. At first I wanted to learn more about it because I knew it was to become a part of my daily life. During this time I had been researching for a while about what area of health and fitness I was going to go in to. After completing her 200 Hour Training through RYS Carly Grace Power Yoga, her vision became clear. Yoga has been so incredibly beneficial to my life, mentally and physically, and I want to share the benefits with others. I hope to encourage people and students to just “do it!" so that they can receive the benefits - not just on the mat- but off, as well. I truly feel blessed and honored to have the ancient practice of yoga in my life and to be able to guide and teach others. It excites me, and I hope to continue to grow, learn, and teach well into the future."
